Some may question Woodley’s entitlement to a title shot, but no-one is doubting Lawler’s credibility as a champion.

Lawler has been involved in some of the greatest title fights of all time and arguably, the greatest ever UFC fight when he and Rory MacDonald went to war at UFC 189 in July last year.

Lawler won the title at UFC 181 after exacting revenge on then champion Johny Hendricks, who’d beat him previously for the title vacated by Georges St-Pierre at UFC 171.

Since beating Hendricks for the title, Lawler has defended it twice, once in that MacDonald fight and again in January in another five-round epic with Carlos Condit.

While Lawler has looked unflappable as the champion, the intensity of his bouts could ultimately catch up with him – the question is, will that be this weekend?

If Lawler’s time at the top is up, the man who will be in prime position to benefit will be Woodley this Saturday night (Sunday morning).

Woodley has won four of his last five to earn the title shot with wins over the likes of Josh Koscheck, Carlos Condit and Dong Hyun Kim, however, he has not fought in over a year since his split-decision win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 183.

He was originally scheduled to face Hendricks at UFC 192 in Houston but Hendricks pulled out of the fight on just 24 hours notice due to weight cut issues.

The question mark against Woodley is whether 15 months of inactivity will show when he enters the Octagon on Saturday night.

Outside of the main event, there are many other interesting bouts, one including Britain’s own Ross Pearson who steps up to face Jorge Masvidal on short notice.

This will be a big challenge for Pearson coming off a loss just last month to Will Brooks at The Ultimate Fighter finale during International Fight Week 2016.

Also worthy of attention will be the co-main event featuring Rose Namajunas taking on Karolina Kowalkiewicz in strawweight action. The winner could well get a shot at the champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk should they impress.

UFC 200 Live Stream

It is Time UFC 200 Live Stream on July 9, 2016: is an upcoming mixed martial arts event produced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) that will be held on July 9, 2016, at the T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada.

The event will be the first that the organization has hosted at T-Mobile Arena, which opened in April 2016.It will take place during the UFC’s annual International Fight Week and mark the second time the UFC will host three events in consecutive days.

A welterweight rematch between The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner and former lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz and current UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor was originally expected to headline the event. The pairing previously met earlier in the year at UFC 196. McGregor was expected to challenge UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos, but dos Anjos pulled out due to a broken foot only 11 days before the event. Diaz eventually replaced him and the bout was shifted to the welterweight division. Diaz won the fight via rear-naked choke in the second round.

On April 19, after McGregor tweeted a supposed retirement, the UFC announced that he was pulled from the event and a replacement for him was being sought. UFC President Dana White clarified that McGregor’s removal was related to his refusal to come to a press conference that week, because “he was in Iceland training and didn’t want to ruin his preparation for the fight”. McGregor released a statement two days later, claiming he is not retired and that he requested the UFC to allow him to focus more on the fight preparation this time, as he feels he lost his focus during the media obligations for the last fight. He gave an ultimatum, saying he’s ready for the event and would come for a scheduled New York press conference, but if that’s not enough, he “doesn’t know what to say”. A report later claimed that the UFC decided to cancel the fight indeed, in what was rumored to be a $10 million paycheck for McGregor.

On April 27, the UFC officially announced the new headliner as a UFC Light Heavyweight Championship unification rematch between current champion Daniel Cormier and former champion Jon Jones, who is also the current interim champion. The pairing met previously at UFC 182 in January 2015 with Jones defending his title via unanimous decision. Subsequent to that victory, Jones was stripped of the title and suspended indefinitely from the UFC in connection with a hit-and-run incident that he was involved in. Cormier replaced him and went on to defeat Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 to win the vacant title. Their rematch was originally expected to take place at UFC 197, but Cormier pulled out three weeks before the event due to injury and was replaced by Ovince Saint Preux, in what became an interim title bout. Jones went on to defeat Saint Preux by unanimous decision and won the interim title.

The event suffered another major hit only three days before it happened, as it was announced that Jones was pulled out by USADA due to a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an out-of-competition sample collection on June 16. Cormier declared he would still fight if an opponent brought to him “made sense”. Additional information on Jones’ situation will be provided as as the process moves forward. A day later Jones apologized for the incident, but denied knowingly taking any illegal substance. He and his manager also declined to specify the substance that resulted in the failed test.

Due to Jones’ removal from the card, the Lesnar-Hunt bout was originally promoted as the new main event. However, during the UFC Fight Night: dos Anjos vs. Alvarez broadcast, it was announced that former UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva would replace Jones on less than two days notice and face Cormier in a three-round non-title light heavyweight bout. Also the already scheduled UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship bout between current champion Miesha Tate and top contender Amanda Nunes was revealed as the new main event and Lesnar-Hunt will remain as the co-main event.

T-Mobile Arena will host the much anticipated event, which will be the 363rd overall in UFC history.
On June 4, during the UFC 199 main card broadcast, it was announced that former UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar would return to the UFC in the co-main event for his first fight since December 2011. He will face the 2001 K-1 World Grand Prix winner and former interim title contender Mark Hunt.Lesnar was also part of the main event on UFC 100 and with Jones’ absence, he and Jim Miller remain as the only two fighters to compete in both milestone events.

Due to McGregor’s experiments outside of his division, an interim UFC Featherweight Championship bout between former champion José Aldo and former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar is expected to take place at this event. This will also be a rematch, as Aldo defended his title against Edgar at UFC 156 in 2013 via unanimous decision.

The card is also expected to feature a heavyweight bout between former two-time champion Cain Velasquez and Travis Browne, and a welterweight bout between former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks and The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen winner Kelvin Gastelum. A middleweight bout between former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion Gegard Mousasi and Derek Brunson was expected to take place at this event, but on June 19 it was announced that Brunson pulled out due to injury and was replaced by Thiago Santos.

A lightweight bout between Joe Lauzon and The Ultimate Fighter 1 winner and former lightweight title challenger Diego Sanchez was originally booked for UFC 180. However, the bout was cancelled due to both fighters being injured.[26] The fight was later rescheduled for this event. Also, another couple of lightweight bouts between former PRIDE Lightweight Champion Takanori Gomi and Jim Miller,as well as Sage Northcutt and Enrique Marín are expected to take place at this event.

Also on the card there will be a women’s bantamweight bout between former title challenger Cat Zingano and The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate winner Julianna Peña, and a bantamweight rematch between former UFC Bantamweight Champion T.J. Dillashaw and Raphael Assunção.[30] The pairing first met at UFC Fight Night: Maia vs. Shields in October 2013, when Assunção won a close bout via split decision.

At the weigh ins Hendricks missed weight by 0.25 lbs, weighing in at 171.25 lbs. He was not given a second attempt to make the weight because the new early weigh in procedures set a 10 AM PDT cut off time and Hendricks weighed in at the last possible moment. As a result he was fined 20 percent of his fight purse, which went to Gastelum

Specifically, UFC 195: Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit is Saturday, January 2nd. Beyond this, I’m not sure what lies ahead for 2016, but this is enough of a good place to start. The card overall is so-so, but the main event is highly intriguing as is the co-main between Stipe Miocic and Andrei Arlovski. We’ll talk about this event and more on today’s show.

We’ll also look back at 2015, what trends emerged, what we learned about the fight game, and more. That means we also have to look ahead to 2016, what we’re expecting, what we’re excited about (me? Dominick Cruz vs. T.J. Dillashaw), what could go wrong and what, overall, we expect.

Oh, and with Rizin ongoing and being both a horror and freak show (in other words, both bad and good), we’ll discuss some of what we’ve seen and what’s ahead.

UPCOMING: SAT, DEC 12 UFC 194 Live ALDO VS MCGREGOR Ultimate Fighting Championship With UFC 194 main event ahead, Jose Aldo can’t wait to put his skills on display UFC 194: ALDO VS MCGREGOR Las Vegas, NV MGM Grand Garden Arena,December 13th, 2015
Conor McGregor has given the champs headaches, but also a bigger stage than ever on which to put on a show.

Featherweight world champion Jose Aldo pulled out of his UFC 189 title defense against Conor McGregor in July because of badly injured ribs. This Saturday, Aldo will step into the cage against his rival.

In all, not much time has actually passed since last summer. That means Aldo hasn’t had a great deal of time to heal and train again.

During a recent media call, however, “Scarface” insisted that he’s completely healed and ready to go at UFC 194.

“Yeah, I’m 100 percent since the last fight,” he said. “I’m healed up.”

Even though the Brazilian is the UFC’s longest-reigning world champion, many more fight fans likely know the name and face of his challenger. Part of that is certainly the promotional push McGregor has gotten, and another part simply the result of his bombastic public personality.

It is also the case that McGregor has fought three times since Aldo last competed, in October 2014. Sometimes, when even a great fighter is out of sight, he can go out of fan’s minds.

Aldo is looking forward to the big stage he’ll have this weekend, in the UFC 194 main event. More fans than ever before will get to see his handiwork.

“Yeah, for sure,” he said.

“I think the reason that I don’t fight as often is because I’m involved in big fights, so this is another chance for the fans that don’t know me to be able to watch and get to know my work.”

Aldo is loathe to give his antagonist McGregor credit for anything. He did admit to this coming bout being the biggest of his career, however.

Except he says that’s because he always views his next fight as the most important. “I think every fight is the biggest fight of my career,” he explained.

“Always the next one is the biggest one. So, I’m looking at this fight as the biggest fight of my career, because it’s the next one.”

He would catch two buses to the Crumlin Boxing Club each week and continued to box.[8] While in Lucan, he began sparring with future UFC fighter Tom Egan who taught McGregor how to grapple and ignited his passion for mixed martial arts.[9] He despised his plumbing experience and quit after one year to take combat sports more seriously.

Mixed martial arts career

Amateur beginnings

On 17 February 2007, at the age of 18, McGregor made his mixed martial arts debut in an amateur fight against Ciaran Campbell for the Irish Ring of Truth promotion in Dublin. He was victorious via TKO in the first round. Following the fight, he turned professional and was signed by the Irish Cage of Truth promotion. In 2008, he began training at the Straight Blast Gym in Dublin under John Kavanagh.

Early professional career

On 9 March 2008, aged 19, McGregor made his professional MMA debut at Cage of Truth 2, defeating Gary Morris by second round TKO. Beginning in 2011, McGregor started an undefeated streak of 14 wins, consisting of one judges’ decision, one submission and twelve knockouts/technical knockouts (nine occurring in the first round). During this period McGregor produced one of the fastest recorded knockouts in MMA ending a fight in 4 seconds at Immortal Fighting Championship in Letterkenny, Ireland.[10] In 2012, McGregor won both the CWFC Featherweight and Lightweight titles, making him the first Irish professional MMA fighter to hold titles in three divisions at the same time. UFC President Dana White traveled to Dublin in early February 2013 to receive a Gold Medal of Honorary Patronage from Trinity College’s Philosophical Society and was inundated with requests to sign McGregor. The two later met in Dublin and White was so impressed with what he saw that he contacted UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta and they subsequently offered McGregor a UFC contract days later.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

In February 2013, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) announced that they had signed McGregor to a multi-fight contract.[11] In joining, McGregor became only the second ever fighter from the Republic of Ireland to compete for the company, following fellow SBG fighter Tom Egan. On 6 April 2013, McGregor made his UFC debut against Marcus Brimage on the preliminary card of UFC on Fuel TV: Mousasi vs. Latifi.[12] He was successful in his first bout, winning via TKO just over a minute into the first round. The win also earned McGregor his first Knockout of the Night award.

McGregor was expected to face Andy Ogle on 17 August 2013 at UFC Fight Night 26However, Ogle pulled out of the bout citing an injury and was replaced by Max Holloway.McGregor won the fight by unanimous decision. Following the bout with Holloway, an MRI scan revealed that McGregor had torn his ACL during the bout and would require surgery, keeping him out of action for up to ten months

In March 2014, the events surrounding McGregor’s fight with Holloway were the main focus of a documentary by Motive Television and SevereMMA.com for Raidió Teilifís Éireann.[16] McGregor was expected to face Cole Miller on 19 July 2014 at UFC Fight Night 46.[17] However, Miller pulled out of the bout citing a thumb injury and was replaced by Diego Brandão.[18] McGregor won the fight via TKO in the first round. The win earned McGregor his first Performance of the Night bonus award.

McGregor faced Dustin Poirier on 27 September 2014 at UFC 178. After a build-up filled with argument and hostility between the two, McGregor won the fight via first round TKO, making him the first man to finish Poirier via KO/TKO in a fight. The win earned McGregor his second straight Performance of the Night bonus award.

McGregor faced Dennis Siver on 18 January 2015 at UFC Fight Night 59. McGregor dominated his opponent, winning the one sided fight via TKO in the second round. The win also earned McGregor his third straight Performance of the Night bonus award. After the fight, McGregor jumped over the cage and confronted the UFC Featherweight Champion José Aldo.

UFC Interim Featherweight Champion

McGregor was expected to face current champion José Aldo on 11 July 2015 at UFC 189 for the undisputed UFC Featherweight Championship.[25][26] However, in the days leading up to the fight, Aldo pulled out of the bout because of a rib injury he had sustained in training. McGregor remained on the card and faced UFC ranked #1 contender Chad Mendes for the interim championship.[27]

McGregor walked out to the Octagon in front of more than sixteen thousand attendees as Sinéad O’Connor performed a live rendition of Foggy Dew. McGregor was taken down several times by the All-American wrestler in the first round, but was able to score a second-round TKO after getting back up to his feet, knocking down Mendes, and finishing with ground and pound with three seconds left, winning the UFC Interim Featherweight Championship.

The victory extended McGregor’s Performance of the Night streak to four, while the card drew a record $7.2 million gate and was a new United States record for mixed martial arts. The weigh-ins for the event also proved groundbreaking, with capacity being reached almost thirty minutes before its start time. The 11,500 attendance dwarfed the previous record of 8,000 set by UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II.[33] Later McGregor revealed that during the fight camp for UFC 189 he tore 80% of his ACL.

McGregor is expected to face Aldo in a title unification match on December 12, 2015 at UFC 194.

UFC Lightweight aspirations

“The featherweights, they hit like flyweights. So it’s nice down there just destroying them and killing that whole division. But I have my eye on that 155 division and I see them all stuck in the mud in there.”

– McGregor, speaking on at the UFC Go Big event.[36]

In the build up to UFC 194 at the Go Big event, McGregor revealed his aspirations to “kill the featherweight division” by unifying the two belts and moving up to the lightweight division.[37] He claimed the current lightweight division was “slow” and “stuck in the mud”.[38] UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos responded to McGregor’s aspirations by saying a fight between the two would be “easy money”.[36] Then-number one contender to the UFC Lightweight Championship Donald Cerrone also commented “Conor has no right coming up to [155]. There’s no way. He’s not gonna stand a chance. We’re too big for him, we’re too strong. So you can take your little English ass and get on.”[36]

The Ultimate Fighter

Shortly after UFC 189, it was announced that McGregor would be coaching against Urijah Faber in the following season of The Ultimate Fighter. In “U.S. vs. Europe”, the twenty-second installment of the reality series, it was confirmed that the coaches would not fight against each other at the show’s conclusion, unlike the majority of previous seasons

Events such as UFC 72, which took place in Belfast, Northern Ireland, U.K., were sold on pay-per-view, but due to tape-delay, purchase rates were not as high as events that aired at a traditional starting time.[1] As such, events taking part in significantly different timezones, including UFC 70, UFC 75, UFC 89, UFC 95, UFC 105, UFC 120, UFC 122, and UFC 138, were given a same-night airing in American primetime on Spike TV.[2]

Historically, the UFC has also aired preliminary fights prior to the main fight cards, either on television via Spike, FX, and Fuel TV, or online via Facebook and YouTube. Beginning in August 2013, starting with UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen, the UFC began airing non-PPV events on either Fox Sports 1 or Fox Sports 2.[3] In January 2014, as part of the organization’s global expansion, the UFC began airing various international events exclusively on their subscription-based digital network, UFC Fight Pass.[4]

In July 2009, the UFC held its unofficial 100th “numbered event”; however, officially, despite being called UFC 100, it was actually the 101st numbered event (not to mention the 133rd event overall). The UFC signed a deal with Fox Sports Net, after Fox agreed to broadcast one fight in June 2002, during its “All-Star Summer” that month.[5] UFC 37 and 38 had already been scheduled and promoted, but as UFC 38 was the promotion’s debut in the United Kingdom, they created UFC 37.5; an event that became the first ever mixed martial arts fight available on cable television.[5]

As of UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs. Masvidal, which took place on November 28, 2015, there have been 340 UFC events held in 117 cities in 19 countries.
